Biography
Doug Haverty (Playwright/Librettist/Lyricist) Doug’s award-winning plays and musicals have been produced around the world. Could I Have This Dance? was named “Best New Play” by The American Theatre Critics Association and was recently published by Samuel French. Aftershocks and Death Defying Acts, both premiered in New York at The Long Island Stage. Inside Out (cowritten with Adryan Russ), played Off Broadway at The Cherry Lane Theatre and at the Here Performing Arts Center in SoHo as well as The Village Theatre Company in Chelsea. His works have been presented at Charlotte Rep., Laguna Playhouse, Phoenix Theatre, Lobero Theatre, Florida Studio Theatre and Theatre-On-The-Square, Theatre 40, Theatre West, The Colony, just to name a few. Other published works include: In My Mind’s Eye [Samuel French] and Flavia & The Dream Maker (A musical) [Dramatic Publishing Company]. Legend of the Crystal Waters (A musical — was a winner at the Deaf Drama Festival). His first play, Hello, This Is The Bottom Drawer was first produced in Los Angeles at The Fountain and as a result he was represented by the legendary Audrey Wood at ICM. Doug’s newest musical, iGhost (also co-written with Adryan Russ), recently had its world premiere in Los Angeles at the Lyric Theatre. His newest full-length play, Next Window, Please will have its world premiere this August at Group Rep. Doug is a member of the Dramatists Guild, ASCAP, ALAP and NARAS. www.playworksmusic.com
